T Series seizes 1.57 lakh pirated DVDs

In a major raid conducted by Ranchi Police on complaint of Super Cassettes Industries Limited (T-Series), at Rajesh and Prasad Electronics in Gandhi Pokhar Market, Ranchi over 1, 57,000 (one lakh fifty seven thousand) pirated DVDs which included the hit films of T-Series including Sarkar Raaj, Kaante, Tere Naam, Taare Zameen Par etc were seized along with Copier Machines worth more than Rs.1 Crore in December recently.

The CDs illegally copied here were being supplied to various parts of Jharkand, Bihar, Orissa and Bengal. The T-Series authorities, on receiving a tip-off, visited various shops of the area pretending to be customers, and were keeping a vigilant eye for the CD pirates. Finally, T-Series senior officers YP Singh and B. N. Tiwari along with Ranchi cops conducted the raid.

The Police have registered a case in this connection under the Copyrights Act, 1957 against the accused persons named Deep Kumar, Dharminder and Chutu Chawdhary. The seized material is in the custody of the area police station.

Says T-Series Creative Director Divya Khosla Kumar, who has also brought out an anti-piracy album to curb piracy, "we at T-Series, have always taken a very strong stand against piracy and these raids serve as deterrents to others who make a business of piracy who cause great revenue loss to the country. But this will be controlled when each of us are vigilant and tip off against these miscreants, thus doing our duty as Indian citizens. Only then can we curb this menace."
