The biggest ever prize money in India for a painter in painting Competition


Producer Deepa Sahi and Aanand Mahendroo's forthcoming film "Rang Rasiya" painting had been used as the back drop of the film with the life of the most celebrated painter of India Called Raja Ravi Varma . Film has been directed by Ketan Mehta.

Since the film is based on painting, the creative trio of the film has come up with a unique promotional campaign for the film. Unique because unlike other promotional campaign, it is not going to benefit only film but whose topic makes the central point of the film. A painting competition 'Rang Rasiya Freedom of Expression Movement' with huge prize money to be won is being organized by the producers and director of the film. Previously the last for the completion was 5th January 2009, but now it has been extended to 15th January 2009. The prize money is unprecedented with one first prize of Rs. Ten Lakhs, Second Prize Rs. Five Lakhs, Third Prize of One Lakh and seventeen appreciation prize of Fifty Thousand. Such prize money is unheard for a painting competition.

'Rang Rasiya Freedom of Expression Movement' is open for all above 18 years. It doesn't matter who you are – a student, painter, house wife, young or old – what matters here is you know painting. Entrance is free. Just log on to www.rangrasiya.com, fill up a form and attach photos of your 2-3 last painting you made it. On submission you will be given a code which you have to remember for further reference. Selected one thousand participants will be given five subjects on which they have to make one painting . The Jury members will visit them in one of the cities chosen by them among Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkota, Bhopal, and Trivendram to see the paintings of these artists and select four best painters from each city. These 20 painters will be invited, all expenses paid, to Mumbai where they will be asked to oil paint a new canvas. And here finally winner will announced.
